Rugby ist aus den anglo-amerikanischen Ländern kaum wegzudenken, bei uns aber ziemlich unbekannt. Dabei ist es eine der schönsten Sportarten der Welt, die den Teamgeist über alles stellt und Eigenschaften wie Respekt und Fairness betont. Rugby macht dich fit, denn es kommt auf Sprinten, Ballkoordination und körperliche Stärke an. Die Positionen im Rugby fordern aber ganz unterschiedliche Talente – „Rugby is a game for players of all shapes and sizes.“ Egal, ob du groß, klein, dick oder dünn bist, jeder und jede ist beim Rugby willkommen – schau einfach mal rein.
Der Kurs vermittelt dir alle nötigen Techniken: Passing und Handling, Tackling, Kicken, Scrum und Line-Out. Dazu gibt es immer auch Strength & Conditioning sowie Mobility-Übungen.
Teil des Trainings sind regelmäßige Freundschaftsspiele gegen Mannschaften von anderen Universitäten oder Vereinen. Außerdem fahren wir auf Turniere im 7er-Rugby wie z.B. zur Hochschulmeisterschaft 2026 nach Karlsruhe.

It’s hard to imagine life in Anglo-American countries without rugby, yet it’s relatively unknown here. Yet it’s one of the most beautiful sports in the world, one that prioritizes team spirit above all else and emphasizes values like respect and fairness. Rugby keeps you in shape, as it relies on sprinting, ball control, and physical strength. However, the different positions in rugby call for a wide range of skills— “Rugby is a game for players of all shapes and sizes.” Whether you’re tall, short, big, or small, everyone is welcome in rugby—just come check it out.
The course teaches you all the necessary techniques: passing and handling, tackling, kicking, scrums, and lineouts. We also always include strength and conditioning as well as mobility exercises.
Part of the training includes regular friendly matches against teams from other universities or clubs. We also travel to 7s rugby tournaments, such as the 2026 University Championship in Karlsruhe.
