Bachata Beginners
Bachata is a popular social couple dance with a lead and follow dynamic that originates from Latin America.
Within this course, we will learn the basics of bachata including:
- the basic step and some of its variations (e.g., box step, Madrid step)
- basic turns 180°
- simple body wave
- open, closed, hammerlock, and pretzel positions
We will focus on proper technique, leading and following as well as dancing to the music. The goal of this course is to prepare you for your first bachata social (party).
Please note that you don't need a partner to register for this course.
Bachata Intermediate
Bachata is a social couple dance with a lead and follow that can be performed in open, semi-closed or closed position.
During the course we will learn steps, figures and moves from Bachata Moderna and Bachata Sensual. The goal of the course is to teach you everything that you need to confidently attend bachata socials. To achieve this we will focus on learning proper technique, leading and following as well as musicality.
Prerequisites for the course are:
- knowing the basics (e.g., basic step, box step, basic turn, hammerlock, pretzel, 180, body wave)
- being able to identify the 1 and 5 counts in bachata songs
